How to Approach UPSC prelims ?
Note :Tips Taken from the UPSC Aspirants who failed in prelims in one or two attempts and get successful in Qualifying prelims,plus mains and Interview finally selection list.
Strict to follow only for prelims
1) News Paper reading must only for the exam point of view.
2)Maintaining a self notes while reading subjects for quick revision in last minute
3) Takeing test series in offline or online (Min 50 max 100 tests to be taken, or more, on Subject wise and Full length tests)
4) Always limit the resources.
5) Revision at least twice, the notes you prepared for prelims.
6) Never neglect the paper 2 in Learning concepts and practiceing. (Time management is very important)
Note :
Analysing the 2019 and 2020 prelims papers, we come across that upsc question pattern lengthen and more reasoning based question which consume time more in reading the options. So aspirants must be consciousness while preparing notes what facts to be written and what content to be absorb.
Resources to be followed only for prelims :
Note :1) Aspirants should analyse previous Questions of upsc prelims before your preparation start or during preparation. Keep in mind you should always refer previous questions while reading subjects, which gives impetus value to your preparation, and learn what to be read what not to be read.
2)UPSC prelims Question and Topics come from on standard subjects like, Polity, history, economics, science and technolgy , current affairs and Environment, agriculture and current events (paper 1)
Sources to be follow for paper 1:
1)Basic sources for all subjects : Ncert from Class 6th to 12 is enough .
Note : sources vary from aspirant to aspirant, we will present here common sources and standard sources to be follow only prelims :
Modern History : (In prelims. Modern history subject covers at least 5 to 6 Question)
Common sources : Spectrum publication (Compulsory must read source for prelims)
Standard sources : From plassey to partition (Reasoning based Question can be solved, exceptional only) mandate to glossary terms in plassey to partition, terminology questions is. Comeing in the exam
Medival India :Covers only one or two Question but 17and 18th century topics and arrival of Europeans must cover very throughly.
Common sources :Ncert is enough class XI. (Glossary terms must learn)
Culture : Ncerts is best choice (Smart Work) by artifical learning via YouTube and current event based which are in news, always look in the match the following.
Ancient India : Ancient Question became tough these days but read ancient wisely by analysing previous questions.
Common sources : Ncert is enough Class XI Rssharma book.
Polity and Governance :
Cover more than 10 Question
Reasoning and logical based Questions are comeing in the exam, Aspirants should very good command on the subject
Basic source : NCERT
Standard sources :Indian polity by Lakshmikanth
Polity Current based questions likely come from Bills, governace intiatives, and hot issues that run over the year long in news papers. Aspirant must keen on while news paper and make note of it.
Geography :
Weightage of geography questions in prelims can be seen in mixed which link with, Indian geoghrpahy, physical geography, world geography, Human geography, and current events.so aspirants must keen on previous questions and make note on it.
Basic and standard sources : NCERT : Class 6th 12 (Good enough)
Current Question pattern should follow based on previous question Attempts by upsc
Environment :
Basic source : NCERT books
Standard source :Environment by Shankar IAS book
Current topics should be linked based on news paper Analysis. Aspirant should focus legislation by government, intiatives, programmes, and Environmental terminology, reports, indexes, world intiatives, targets etc.
Economics :
In UPSC prelims, economics have very good weightage every year, in terms of static and dynamic coverage of topics, aspirants should good command on core concepts and make note on courrent topics and terminology while reading news paper.
Basics sources :NCERT class 11 and 12.(compulsory question in prelims)
Note : Don't forget to study glossary terms and link those terms to current relevant and make short notes of each terms through Wikipedia and arthapedia.
Staandard source :Aspirant choice either Ramesh Singh or nitin Singhania book (which covers planning, LPG reforms, etc)
Few topics like RBI intiatives, Budget intiatives, governemnt programmes schemes, fdi, trade, export and imports, statistics, should cover while reading news paper, economic survey terms etc.
Science and Technology :
Science and Technology Question are purely reasoning and application based question in prelims, the weightage increases year on year,weightage max of 12 question in prelims
Basic sources : NCERTS
Standard sources :Internet (Just know applications)
Note : Choose some of the ongoing hot topics of science technology, write some notes from internet, always keep remind application oriented topics which you find daily life is very important.
Agriculture :
UPSC prelims exam, now days covering some of the agriculture terminology which frequently in news, so Aspirants must aware of those topics through news paper.

Current Affairs :
Current affairs is important part the for exam but don't exhaust while reading more and more current affairs, please do understand certain areas need to be cover in current affairs and make short note of it through news paper or following any one of the institute magazine Monthly.

Dear Aspirants,
1)Please learn the answering techniques, while solving questions both previous question papers and, any test series by any standard institute.
2) For prelims it is required standard knowledge of and Basic knowledge in solving general studies paper 1,be always rational thinking don't do overthinking, sometimes, due to overthinking we miss the choice of right answer.
3) Try to read Question and given options carefully, upsc will trap aspirants in exam hall.f
Forrigbt approach need more practice.
4)Time management is very important in solving question paper. Know from seniors and How to Answer the question paper in exam hall.
5) Don't underestimate the competition, Do your best.. Please don't compare with materialistic society.
Learn always from mistakes, never go back when you fail, fail is inevitable, Times matters what you do. Sometimes we overestimate what we achieve short term but undestimate what we achieve in long run. UPSC journey for some aspirants it is short, to win the race, for other aspirants it will for long journey. Believe that When you takes risk,life will be an opportunity, calculate your - self every risk you take that give opportunity to grow. If you are aiming for big, you should be think so big.
