The mentor should always have these Qualities ,he/she should have knowledge on upsc cycle ,the demand of the exam ,skill required of the exam and best motivational attitude .It's vary person to person mentor to mentor but Sucessful person will give good motivation but a failure know the root of the exam .Identify yourself and approach mentor.
Best Technique to study optional Every optional has two paper ,each paper has two parts ,to the exam point of view ,1 and 5th Question compulsory so what to do now is 1) Take syllabus and divide or identify parts of syllabus which is part 1 and part 2 in syllabus 2) Now take part 1 of the paper 1 ,identify one notes and one text book . 3) First read as per syllabus you will get comprehensive view in syllabus of part 1 ⁴)Then identify previous questions ,how upsc asking questions , evaluate yourself what you understand from syllabus ! 5) Now take one standard test book ,read it and understand the concepts,after completion ,take notes . 6) Now start writing notes based on syllabus / point of notes ,what you understand with topics and need notes ,,authors opinions ,thinkers opinion ,and scholars opinion while makeing notes . 7) attempt every previous question after each topic of syllabus . 8) No one knows everything ,need to be master do it again again...
