Liberalization has had a significant impact on companies owned by Indians, particularly in terms of increased competition from multinational corporations (MNCs). While some Indian companies have been able to compete with MNCs satisfactorily, others have struggled.

  1. Improved competitiveness: Liberalization has increased competition in the Indian market, forcing Indian companies to improve their competitiveness. This has led to increased innovation, better quality products, and improved efficiency. Indian companies that have been able to adapt to this increased competition have been able to compete with MNCs successfully.

  2. Access to global markets: Liberalization has also opened up global markets to Indian companies. Indian companies have been able to tap into these markets and establish themselves as competitive players. This has allowed them to compete with MNCs on a level playing field.

  3. Struggles for small companies: On the other hand, small and medium-sized Indian companies have struggled to compete with MNCs, due to their limited resources and lack of access to global markets. These companies have faced challenges in terms of technology, marketing, and distribution, which have hindered their ability to compete with MNCs.

In conclusion, while liberalization has had a mixed impact on Indian companies, it has generally improved their competitiveness.
